Is peanut butter more preferable than ordinary butter?

    They're two completely different things. Personally I like peanut butter.

    I don't eat dairy because I'm not a calf. I realize you Indians love dairy, though. And btw, Indian peanut butter is excellent, the best I've ever tasted.

    Peanut Butter is a spread like Jam, not meant to replace butter.

    PB doesn't have any cholesterol.....so a better choice but they are NOTHING alike in flavor or uses.

    Depends on what you are doing with it. I am unlikely to rub down a chicken I plan to roast with peanut butter ... although on second thought ... a satay like roasted chicken might be interesting...

    Is peanut butter preferable to butter for what purpose?   You gave zero context.  You might as well have asked if a fish is preferable to a bicycle. 

    You're not going to eat enough butter on a sandwich for it to be considered a meal (protein) and you aren't going to make pastry with peanut butter.
