LOL! No. American Indians are the orginal natives of America. They were callled "Red Indians" or "Indians" because of their Dusky Complexion. Both belong to two Completely Different Races.

No, they're not. Their cultures are different. Native Americans have been more o less isolated from all other humans for 15-20,000 years until the Euros came in 1492. I guess this also affected their genetic make up; scientists have identified certain genetic variants that are found almost exclusively amongst Indigenous Americans.

Native Americans have only been in the Americas for 12,000-15,000 years.

American Indians were named 'Indian' by the white uneducated masses that emigrated to America and thought they looked similar to people from India.

The country India, was given this name by wealthy white people, it was not the correct name given by it's people.

There is no relation between American Indians and people from the country now known as India.  They are 2 completely different races and from 2 separate continents.

No. Natives of the Americas are called 'Indian' because it comes from the Spanish word "Indio" meaning "Godlike People".

No. When Columbus (etc) went to the New World he thought he'd gone all the way round to India because they underestimated Earth's diameter, so he thought they were Indian.

Wrong! Natives of the Americas are called 'Indian' because it comes from the Spanish word "Indio" meaning "Godlike People".

  • Historically, no, not in recent times 36,000 years ago Native Americans appear to have migrated away from East Asian Indians.  Now very few similarities exist. The Native American population expanded from Alaska south all the way to the tip of South America virtually unscathes until th 1500s.
