Why do the Protestant majority in Northern Ireland hate the Roman Catholic minority and were always persecuting  them for centuries?

It all boils down to the British Empire needing a place to stash its second and third sons who wouldn't inherit land in Britain itself. Granting Irish peerages kept these erstwhile dilettantes out of England where they could embarrass their important families. All the religious turmoil generated intentionally to keep the locals in line was just a side effect.

You ask bollocks questions like this one every other day. Has it never occurred to you to read a book on the subject? It's not exactly something that can be summed up in a paragraph. And the majority of the population of Norn doesn't hate Catholics. Have you ever been there? Obviously not.
