Why the hell does Georgia have " in case of stopped emergency vehicles slow down or change lane " signs on highways?

It's so damn asinine! Who the hell thinks of these things? OK so if there is a stopped emergency vehicle just slow down so you eventually run into it ! God!

This may be a requirement of the law mandating giving extra right-of-way to emergency vehicles.  Is it the law which you don't like, or just the constant reminders of it?

Gosh you are just one that understands the concept.Millions of other drivers do as well.

The problem is a few are not very good drivers and need constant reminders.

The Georgia Move Over Law requires drivers to move-over one lane when possible if an emergency vehicle with flashing lights is parked on the shoulder of the highway. And if traffic is too heavy to move-over safely, the law requires drivers to slow down below the posted speed limit instead AND to be prepared to stop

How many dead tow truck drivers is enough for you.? Their families think ONE is too many.

A similar law is in place in most jurisdictions.

It's because people in Georgia can't figure this out for themselves.

I have seen those signs in Arkansas too.  The emergency vehicle will probably be on the shoulder instead of in a driving lane.

While it may sound as if they are saying the obvious, perhaps, it has been enough of an issue that someone somewhere thought it necessary to post signs. Granted, this should be been part of the driving school curriculum when anyone was learning to drive, but sometimes you have to say the obvious--maybe they will start posting signs: red means stop, green means go, and yellow means slow down or caution OR do not press cruise control and then take a nap.

It means that when a STOPPED police car has a speeder stopped ON THE SHOULDER, don't drive by at 84.999 (speed limit lS 85, RIGHT?). If you MUST fly low at 84.999, at LEAST get over in the fast lane. IF YOU CAN'T GET OVER (in Texas) you slow down to 90, the speed limit being 110. So slow to TWENTY under the posted speed limit.

People are idiots, that's why. Most people don't pay attention and do that anyway when there's an emergency vehicle on the side of the road responding to someone in need.

Stopped cars on a highway are hazards, moron. You go slow to navigate around the emergency vehicle. You're from Georgia, aren't you?
