Do you think it is safe to fly on a commercial jet?

Not compared with flying 3 months ago. The risk to your health from airline travel is as high as it has ever been. And it's not just the airlplane, the entire airport, crowds, and public transport experiences that goes with air travel contribute to the risk. But the risk of serious illness or death is very low for most people. If you can cancel, postpone, or travel by private car, then do so. If you must travel and time is of the essence, then go with all due precautions and mitigations.

In what context? The plane may crash? Being surrounded by many strangers during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Safe from a flying safety standpoint or from a public health standpoint? For not making that clear, you've earned a FAIL.
WRONG FORUM. You should have asked in AIR TRAVEL, not aircraft. FAIL again

To answer your question...flight safety: yes. Protection from corona virus? No.

Safer to fly than it is to drive (as long as you are using a self-contained breathing apparatus).

I did that yesterday. Seemed safe enough to me. At least we got to where we wanted to be before the government shut everything down because of the virus panic.
