Inquiring About CPP?

Hello there,

I am 25 years old and I am working and contributing to CPP (Canada Pension Plan).

My friend told me that contributing to CCP is useless because you cannot get your money back when you retired. He said “your paying retirement to someone else” by contributing to CPP. He also said  that if ever the government give you some of ur  CPP back that CPP money is only enough to buy a piece loaf of bread every month.

Is this true? Because i contributed  decent amount of CPP.

Please could someone tell me because i am so confused now.
