For your reassurance, my brother had the virus. For just over a week he just had a really bad cough and was able to function normally; still doing chores around the house and making himself food. You wouldn't have even guessed he had a potentially life threatening virus, just seemed like a common cough, maybe a little bit more severe than the common cough, but not completely deadly in his case.

Yeah I definitely agree. Not discouraging isolation and taking care of oneself at all. Just answered his question from a personal stand point.

not getting avoidably infected. Practice social isolation, minimse contact especially with those with lung, heart, blood pressure and diabetes... Be sensible. Keep your communities safe, this is more important than you can imagine.... the health service front line are overwhelmed easily by this.

In the U.S. over 98% of the very sick people tested positive have not died.   At least ten times that had minor symptoms and were never tested.   It’s hard to know exactly because we only test the very worst cases.

to 4% (China, where the disease has (according to released figures) nearly run it's course, with few active cases - and nearly all acknowledged active cases having been marked as recovered).

Yes, and at least 80% recover without needing medical treatment and most of those without even knowing they had the virus.
