Broken toe?

I’m 13 and home alone. I hit my pinky toe on my dresser. It’s swelled and gone a bit blue/red. Is it broken? What shall I do?

My toe is now purple and swollen

is it broken? ( preferably from someone with experience)

How to treat?

    For now, ice it.

Wrap some ice (or a pack of frozen veggies) in a hand towel and apply to the toe for 15 mins. Then off for 15 minutes. Then ice 15 minutes etc.

Do not apply ice without a cloth in between ice and skin.

And elevate your foot, keep the onjured foot level with your hip as much as possible, sit on a couch or bed if that makes it easier.

Ask your parent/guardian for further advice when they get home.

Sounds like a sprain--I've had lots of them. Not likely broken. Make a cold compress by wrapping ice cubes in a towel. Put that on the toe off and on to keep the swelling down. Also keep your foot raised to help the swelling go down.

    Put some ice on it.
