Cultural diffusion is occurring rapidly, this leads to cultural leveling, groups becoming similar as they adopt items from other cultures. ?
is this much of the richness of the world’s diverse culture is being lost in the process?

All cultures have some elements from other cultures. Groups and cultures have always become similar and diverse

It's imperialism and assimilation rather than cultural diffusion most of the time.
If you compare Native Americans and Non-Natives in the U.S., Canada or Mexico, you'll find out the former have adapted much better to the latter than the other way around.
For instance, Native Americans can speak English/French/Spanish, but non-Natives usually know zero words in any Indigenous language. This can be extended to religion (many Natives are Christians), clothing, lifestyle...

Yes. Elements of culture have always been sacrificed by their owners, when they see a benefit from doing so. If they see no benefit, they will not elect to make such a sacrifice, and that cultural element will be retained so long as that continues to be their calculation. So some "richness" is tossed overboard by its owners, yes. But they get to decide what's lost and what's retained.
The only case outside of voluntary sacrifice is the case of conquest, in which the conqueror outlaws certain cultural elements of the conquered, and destroys things that are significant to those elements. But, while there are many examples of conquest in history, the "cultural leveling" that you've mentioned doesn't include it (I assume).
