How would testosterone treatment work on CAIS women (intersex)?

I have been looking into Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome women. How can testosterone hormone treatment even work on them if the whole thing is about not being able to react to androgen at all? Since the testosterone produce from their undescended testes (before they are removed) is not recognized and translated to estrogen.
