Has the coronavirus proven Trump right on everything he's said?

We don't need government-run healthcare (it's been a disaster in European countries who have more than twice the death rate of the US)

We need to close the border by building a wall to prevent people bringing diseases in

CNN and MSNBC are fake news

We need to clean up unsanitary liberal cities where most of the disease is.

No, it's proven him wrong. Nobody brought the disease in over the border. It was brought in by travelers coming legally on cruse ships and airplanes. Closing the border wouldn't have helped, because it didn't come by the border.

President Trump's opponents seem to be suffering from cognitive dissonance over borders.

On one hand they think that anyone should be allowed to enter into the country.

However, it has been shown that limiting entry can help slow down or prevent the spread of illnesses like COVID-19. His opponents see that and say that the President should have acted sooner. So soon, in fact, that there would be no chance of admitting anyone with the illness.

So, on one hand they say Trump should not regulate the borders but then claim that he should have been regulating the borders prior to the virus infecting anyone.

So unless you have a crystal ball and can see into the future, it would seem that you need to regulate the flow of people into the country even before an illness is discovered - which in practical terms means all the time.

No.  In fact it's proven him wrong on almost everything.

The idea that we don't need single payer health care based on the results in Europe is nonsense.  The death rate is high in some European countries but low in others and all of them have socialized medicine.  Italy has a very high death rate, in part because Italian cafe culture lead to people ignoring warnings to quarantine until pretty late.  But Germany, which also has socialized medicine, has the lowest death rate in the world from coronavirus.  Moreover, we don't know what the death rate is going to be in the US.  We're behind the curve on this compared to Europe, which got hit with the virus first.  Italy was already ordering full lockdowns of it's country by the end of February, a time when the US wasn't doing anything to stop the spread of the disease.  Doctors in the US are already reporting problems handling the flood of coronavirus cases and the infection numbers continue to go up.  We could see a lot worse.  Moreover, coronavirus is just one health event, albeit a major one.  Socialized medicine generally provides better health care outcomes in general than our privatized system.  Most of the major wealthy European countries have better health outcomes than the United States.

Trump was also not right about closing our borders.  For one thing, Trump doesn't advocate an actual closing of our borders and unless you completely close off access to the US you're not going to prevent travelers from transmitting the virus.  Trump likes to tout his decision to close off much air travel from China (while falsely claiming that he did this over objections from others).  But he did that too late to make a difference as evidenced by the fact that so many people now have the disease in the US.  In fact, Trump's racialized vision of immigration left him ill prepared to handle the pandemic.  He's been monomaniacally focused on restricting immigration from non white countries, especially Mexico and Central America.  But that's not where the virus came from.  His racist belief that illegal immigrants are disease bearers led him to ignore actual vectors of disease and his general racism may have lead him to assume that a massive viral outbreak in China could never threaten a white majority country like the US.

Trump is also wrong that major media outlets like CNN are "fake news".  If you want to argue that then you need to point out stories which they reported that are fake.  Remember that a story isn't fake just because you don't like it or the implications it has for Trump.  It's only fake if it's factually false.  In fact, it's Trump, and his ally Fox News, who have been the primary purveyors of fake news about this epidemic.  Trump spent several weeks insisting that the coronavirus wasn't going to amount to anything.  He said that "it's one guy", "we've got fifteen cases and pretty soon it's going to go down to zero", that "one day it will just magically disapppear", and that the entire coronavirus story was "a hoax" perpetrated by his political enemies.  Even once he acknowledged the reality of the outbreak he continued to peddle fake news.  He has said that "everyone who wants a test will get one" (false), that anti malarial drugs are an effective treatment for the virus (one man has already died because of that lie), that there are enough ventilators for everyone who needs one (there aren't).

The epidemic has really proved Trump wrong on almost every front.  His insistence that he could trust the Chinese because he had a "great relationship" with President Xi was disastrous.  His refusal to coordinate with foreign governments allowed the epidemic to spread.  His focus on racist fearmongering about illegal immigrants left him unable to appreciate real dangers.  His denigration of expertise and assault on science has left his administration ill equipped to deal with such an outbreak.  His insistence that the media should be obsequiously compliant to the President and his personal political interests led to many weeks of false information being pumped out into the public sphere.  It's literally hard to think of anything that Trump has been right about in this outbreak.

You are as smart as Chump and think just like him. You barely see what is going on right in front of your face right now and cannot see 1 minute into the future or even think about it cause it would blow out that little brain of yours. Yes NYC is getting hit the hardest right now but if you think it isn't coming full force to a nice republican state in the very near future, you have another thing coming. Oops. I wrote you think and that is wrong.

Two countries in Europe are bad- the rest are better and none of those people will go bankrupt for catching this. It's not those dirty mexicans that brought it in, it came by plane and trump never suggested putting up a 40,000 foot wall around the country.

Why? Did Trump say "Don't listen to me, I am a total asshole"?

That's the only thing he could say that can be proven right.

The fist case in Seattle, where it all started here, was brought in by a US CITIZEN that had been travelling to China. Viruses don't care about borders, nationalities or walls. As for which health care system is better, ours hasn't been TESTED yet. They don't expect the worst for 1-2 weeks at least.

Or the most rapid rate of increase? South Korea and the USA got their first cases on the same day. South Korea leveled the curve quickly.
