The packets I buy are 1/4 ounce.  I would use a whole packet and call it good if I were using that recipe.  If you're measuring from bulk yeast, the exact measurement is between 2 1/4 and 2 1/2 teaspoons, or a slightly short tablespoon.

Yeast, luckily, is very forgiving for small discrepancies.  You won't notice unless you get far too much or far too little.

But why do you want 5/16 of an ounce? No recipe is going to ask for that!

Edit, I can't believe it says, 5/16 of an ounce on the packet (it's not “bulk yeast” if that's all there is) but just use a teaspoon to see how much is there.

Because I am using bulk yeast and that is how much is in a packet.
