Apply the dy/dx = dy/du x du/dx rule

Let 1 + 3Cos^2x = u

Hence

y = 2/3 ln u

dy/du = (2/3)(1/u)

du/dx = 3(2)Cos(x)(-Sin(x)) = -6Sin(2x)

Hence dy/du x du/dx = (2/3)(1/(1 + 3Cos^2(x)) X (-6Sin(2x))

Tidying up

dy/dx = -4Sin(2x) / (1 + 3Cos^2(x))
