What is the importance of wisdom?

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

a man can understand the mechanics of how a bird can fly moving it's wings and gliding

wisdom is not jumping off a building and trying it your self

often humans are emotional in their perceptions and reactions this is instinct - Wisdom allows us the know / plan the best prevention to avoid bad conditions

Wisdom also can tell you there is no way to overcome the situation -- people in the towers on 911 jumped to a faster easy death rather than burn to death because wisdom told them they would die either way

Wisdom allows humans to perceive time and plan ahead long term

animals plan based on mostly instinct

a problem with many humans they rely on the wisdom of others and only act as repeaters not thinkers -- humans greatest skill is saved knowledge - writing - books and ideas left for those who come later - the ability to understand past history is wisdom -- but alas many people rewrite history and create a false sense of security  that is the opposite of history

many ideas that only work in theory and fail when tried - then later tried again with rationalization that the theory was improperly applied or applied by the wrong people leads to failure over and over.

a man jumping off a cliff may for moments get the feeling of flying but inevitably dies/fails at the end

the next person who does it says he needed to glue feathers on his arms dies as well

    -----------------------------------------------

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

knowledge is knowing:  IF all people worked equally hard and were equally diligent the shared fruits of that work; shared equally =  benefits would be plentiful

Wisdom is knowing humans will not work equally hard nor diligent

those working hard will not be compensated for their extra share of the work, and those who refuse to work hard will receive rewards for work they did not do

As well Wisdom is to realize under a shared system as this; the hard workers will  stop working any harder than the screw offs and no one will have the needed products of the work.

another fact that wisdom can see, those who rationed to them selves what they have received, will eventually have what looks like a unfair bounty,, while the lazy and reckless will use what they have immediately and complain they did not receive equal amounts.

wisdom would be to see these facts and accept them...

the inept will react emotional deny this fact ,, often not even knowing they are the lazy ones

for often the ineptness of their thinking allows them to fool them selves into believing they are the clever one who should lead not work hard - This is where tyrants come from making hard workers their slaves as they do nothing.

It's like having a map of the world around you. In the case of wisdom, it's a map of human motivation, feelings, and behaviors. Nice to be able to see and understand those things. Cuts way down on surprises. Also makes you a warmer person and you attract a better class of people.

  • Ones wisdom is only Good for himself, for that which he has learned from his own lessons in this life.  He may share what he has gained but, every individual must learn his own lessons in this life to find great wisdom.  :D

"wisdom" on it's own is practically USELESS...

E.g. some philosophy students Are Still being taught the so-called Ancient Philosophy crap that results in the "wise statement" of "No new Philosophy (under the sun)" which basically translates to say that If YOU know real WISE philosophy from & about the time-of-Plato (when wise written philosophy apparently first started) then you should have wisely learned the true tale that we moderns are just like the old Greek crowd who were in a cave & were afraid-to-come out, basically.

And when you KNOW this YOU can then become "a lover of wisdom".

Stupid nonsense & oddly enough it shows when philosophy, it's "wise men" &

it's students CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE BETTER philosophy WORDS OF A SIMPLE SWEDISH GIRL who rightly CRITICISES THEM FOR Their mistakes.

First & foremost MISTAKES IN TEACHING which as we NOW Know is The prime Thing in Teaching - that our Great Culture has made some bad mistakes now culminating in some of it's MOST Stupid & life threatening mistakes ever...

Just wait until philosophy & all calmly floats-towards-it's-own calamitous & irresponsible mistakes FOR A FEW THOUSAND YEARS... so to speak.

An (unsustainable)  PANDEMIC TO END PANDEMICS.

And I & we SHOULD blame philosophy as well as the greed & falsehood of

a workaholic culture who are in effect SICK with stupidity....

stupidity which is not-only-rampant in OUR SCHOOLS BUT ALSO OUR COLLEGES...

"critically" rampant, or as we should now say-in-philosophy...

    Critically-rationally rampant.

Wisdom is of the future. There is a difference between knowledge and wisdom. Wisdom comes with experience. Thus, helps you with future decisions.

Think of this proverb: Life is the hardest teacher bc it gives you the test first, then the lesson. Wisdom is the lesson. And then you apply it and never try not to mess up again. The wiser you are, the better you can predict future events based on your actions. This is why it is important to live Wisely. Bc if you dont, you hurt yourself.

This is also why SOMTIMES (depending on the situation), it is better to do nothing, for whatever you do, you do unto yourself. The only true wisdom, is knowing you know nothing - by Socrates

Wisdom allows us to improve outcomes, solve problems, meet challenges, and leverage opportunity.  All of which are manifestly obvious for happy lives.    There are 3 key components to wisdom.  One is information from knowledge and experience.  Another is critical thinking about how that knowledge and experience apply to a new situation.  And the third is the imagination to envision the consequences and outcomes of action (or inaction) relative to the cost.  For wisdom to stand, it requires all 3 legs of that stool, otherwise wisdom is not present.

its like prioritized knowledge the most important pieces of knowledge that exist - my definition not sure the real one (the real one probably has plenty of wise but less important teachings, which I think is unwise)

Source(s): and its not difficult to grasp unlike other less important info can be

Intelligence is just the ability to memorize facts. Wisdom is knowing how to apply that knowledge to solve problems.

intelligence is a higher ability to solve  novel problems with fewest resources and do it the fastest with the least mess or untoward consequences. Einstein left facts to the text books and looked them up when required.
