Assuming the day starts with 1 organism, the total number of organisms can be modeled exponentially by 1*(2^(x/12)), where x is in seconds. This is because the total population doubles every time x increases by 12. 1 day = 24 hours = 1440 minutes = 86400 seconds.

2^(86400/12)=2^7200 organisms. That is about 2.606 * 10^2167, which is more than the total number of atoms in the universe!

    An extremely large number.
