Does peroxide work as well as alcohol for cuts?

Actually, somewhat better. Yes, alcohol sterilises things, but it's really not meant for cuts.
If you DO use hydrogen peroxide, put it on a swab or cotton ball and use that. Hydrogen peroxide degrades into water rather quickly if it is contaminated.

Actually we no longer use either. Both are cellular kills-meaning they kill your good cells as well and retard healing. Soap and water under some pressure is all that is recommended for wounds that you treat at home. Even in the ER we dont use hydrogen peroxide and alcohol is never used.

Hydrogen Peroxide is also very effective against cuts and open wounds. It kills bacteria rapidly.
FYI: When you pour it on, you should expect it to fizzle and bubble, It will look like white gooey stuff. This is normal. It doesn't hurt from my experience also.
