Is it unwise to try and learn the fiddle and the violin at the same time?

Yes, I know they are the same instrument, I mean the styles.

    I think unless you can keep the two sorted out, it possibly is unwise. So it depends on you as a musician with a musician's sense for the two things. The note positions won't be different, but I can see that the slurs between notes, the subtleties in the rhythms, the 'styles' will be different. That's having 3 things come to mind at once and I don't even play a string instrument!
