How do I tell my parents I have an ingrown toenail?

First of all, you need to be sure you are ready to deal with their response, it might not go how you are expecting. Sit them down, tell them gently that you have something to tell them, and you hope they understand, because it doesn't change who you are, you are still the same person. Good luck.

Just tell them-there’s nothing to be ashamed of.

It 's not like your toe is going to fall off, for goodness sake.
Just tell your parents: "I have an ingrown toenail. Do you think you might be able to dig it out, or do I need to see a podiatrist"? A podiatrist is a foot doctor.

Just tell them. You need to see a podiatrist asap. Ingrown toenails can get infected and really cause problems. I don’t want to scare you but my mother died from an infection from an ingrown toenail. She was 83 and had other issues but the Dr. did tell me the infection is was ended her life.
