Is 2006 year considered old for a car?

Yes it is old, but so much depends on where it has been all of its life, what distance it has covered and its maintenance, or lack of it.

I live in the southern part of western Australia so body rust is not a problem and my 2000 Mercury/Ford Cougar with very low mileage is just fine.

It depends on the make and model. Do some consumer research and make sure the price is right.

If it is in mint condition physically and mechanically and with lower than average miles.  it is not old.

2006 was fourteen years ago. I'd say it's old.

Depends on the people you hang around with.  People who lease their cars only keep them for 2-3 years.  I usually have mine for at least 7 years.  My truck is 17 years old and runs like new.

    .

I would not call yours new, but it is far from old.

As long as you do regular maintenance, your vehicle can last as long as jimanddottaylor's truck or many more years. In California when a vehicle reach 25 years, you don't need a smog check.
