    I was there, but don't remember, so I will guess. Hope you post the actual answers.

    Milk 89 cents

    Bread 50 cents

    Small chips 35 cents

    Cigs 79 cents

    Gas 89 cents

    Beef $1.25

    Candy bar 35 cents

    McD's $1.25

    I don't remember ... but I DO remember that in 1964 you could get a "meal" from McDonalds for 35 cents: hamburger, fries and milkshake. I was in high school and would try to scrape my pennies together for a meal.

    And in 1972, butter was 25 cents a pound. I had started living on my own and buying my own food, so I remember the cost of butter.

    Since then ... well things just go up in price all the time, so you stop paying attention.

    Fortunately, your income goes up too.

    I remember when $450 a month was a manageable monthly salary.
