    Yeah,it's legal, because you're not forcing anyone to donate,it's a voluntary act by your viewers

    If you are a commercial or private site and are not a registered charity, it is not legal to put a donate button on your website unless you have a notation right under it that the donations are not tax deductible. Depending on what you are doing, the tax authorities might consider it a gift and therefore not taxable income to you, or they could consider it taxable income. You have to be specific about what people are donating to or for.

    Sure, but that doesn't mean you are getting donations.

    If it's a company, it's income to you (taxable income).
