Posse Comitatus Act?

Can anyone give a quick easy summary of the purpose of the Posse Comitatus Act being passed in 1878? Is this a good thing or no?

it is a good thing , anything can be abused including the legal system and the authorized police courts DAs etc

often the legal system does what is easy not what is right

Posse Comitatus Act  offers a option to justice outside of government

remember the criminal justice systems weak point is there are all government employees and power corrupts -- but anarchy is the option

Posse Comitatus Act is a alternative to anarchy justice aka vigilant acts in the name of justice

sad ,, when the legal system will not stop crime it forces the people to act as vigilantes -- as in the current homeless crime and the system ignores them

Posse Comitatus Act allows for a alternative to force the system to react

but even then the system (government) may no longer act in a responsible manner in in the face of correctly done Posse Comitatus

one reason this was made law was to allow for pursuit into territories not in the legal jurisdiction of the government ,, (non-states) or cross from one state to the other -- Posse Comitatus could pursue across state lines where local police could not

as in bootleggers , bank robbers (Jessie James IE)

noting the FBI  was created with the idea they would take care of such needs later

unfortunately they found real work too hard and began to find easy law abiding people to harass for incidence of technicality not real crime

Posse Comitatus  Pinkerton and Wells Fargo agents were some
