No, because of all the sugar and the other chemicals.

Because of the amount of sugar contained in soda, where water has none

You can, but should you?  Soda has sugar or sugar substitutes in it, as well as carbonation, which alters your blood pH, and not for the good.  The acids in sodas (soft drinks or pop) are bad for your teeth (corrodes the enamel), and the fizz can give you gas.  Water, especially purified, bottled water, is better for you.  Avoid distilled water, drink filtered or bottled spring water.  If you chill it, it can be as satisfying as drinking a cup of fountain drink soda pop.

Salt water is mostly water.  Try drinking that and tell us how you feel.
