The question is intended to see if you can reject surplus irrelevant information. The angles are entirely unnecessary. The definition of a resultant vector is the vector sum of the vectors which make it up. ie a).

y = P[y] + Q[y]

P[x] = P * cos(120) = P * (-1/2) = -P/2

Q[x] = Q * cos(90 + 30) = Q * cos(120) = -Q/2

P[y] = P * sin(120) = P * (sqrt(3)/2) = P * sqrt(3)/2

Q[y] = Q * sin(90 + 30) = Q * sin(120) = Q * sqrt(3)/2

sqrt(x^2 + y^2) =>

sqrt((-P/2 - Q/2)^2 + (Psqrt(3)/2 + Qsqrt(3)/2)^2) =>
