Wicked shimmy in back end off + on at various speeds- bad tires or ?

Thought truck was going to fall apart at 30 then went away just to come back a little at 55.   Haven't had wheels balanced in decades as the weights always fall off before I get home.   Tread is about gone on one wheel aft.

It could also be an out of round tire, bent wheel, or a bad universal joint.

Bad tread wear on only one tire strongly indicates a bad shock absorber or other problem with the suspension.

The shimmy could be bad balancing,  loose/damaged lugs, ice packed inside the wheel,  or even a transmission problem like a failure in the operation of the torque converter.

A mechanic should drive and diagnose it.

As live never replaced the shocks it could be a problem but tread is low because hard to find right size here.  One bad lug but on other side. No ice-80' out.  Transmission possible but book value varies w/ price of scrap metal...
