What Japanese car manufacturer made the most reliable cars in the 70s? ?

Essentially the same list as today...Honda and Toyota. The biggest change is Datsun ( now Nissan ) was more reliable back then compared to the stuff they're putting out today IMHO.
The biggest problem with those cars from that era was how quickly they rusted. I live in an area that used a lot of road salt during the winter months and I had a few Japanese cars from the 80's. They all had rust issues as they aged ( after about 5 or 6 years old ).
