Would you buy a replacement if you lost something given to you? ?

I got a flag patch from a soldier as a gift like 6 yrs ago. It was worn and used like it had “character” which I love.. Then I got a military-style jacket I put the flag patch on it with velcro like a year ago. Apparently the velcro I got sucks, and I work at a grocery store and I’m pretty sure the patch fell off at work so it’s probably long gone in the trash by now....

Is it weird to buy a replacement now, like I dunno whether I say the new one was a gift or a replacement of a gift??

I just feel weird about it and not sure what to do.... (Yes I’m still trying to find the original too so I may be able to avoid this..)

You lost your stuff, it's gone.
