Do lots of companies do immoral/wrong things behind closed doors?

For example, promoting people unfairly, paying people unfairly, taking advantage of employees, etc.

Lots?  No.  Some?  Very few.  An employer has the right to promote who he sees fit to promote.  It's the employer's choice, not the right of any employee.  If an employee is not happy with the pay, he has the right to quit.  It is not the right of an employee to demand any sort of pay.  The employer tells what he is paying and if the employee doesn't like it, he shouldn't take the job.  If he is not getting rises as he would like, he can quit.

There are only very few who don't do those kinds of things.
