    Many of them are legit, some are scams.  The scam ones will ask you to pay them for a data entry list but promise you a huge income.  A legit one will not ask you to pay for anything but will pay you a 'piece rate' that will add up to minimum wage if you can enter data quickly

    Such jobs these days are rare indeed, although some exist. So you need to be very careful.

    But generally if you are asked to pay for your own training and equipment it's a scam, ditto paying a fee to apply for the actual job.

    Usually a scam.  If you have to pay any money for ANYTHING like equipment, training, materials or anything else, even if thy say you'll be reimbursed, it's a scam.
