the probability that a car tire will last for 5 years is 0.8. the probability that a tire will last for 6 years is 0.5. suppose that your tires have lasted for 5 years. determine the probability that the tires will last for 6 years

Some of your statements refer to tire (singular), and some to tires (plural). I am going to suppose that all of them were meant for a single tire. Define two events.
E: The tire lasts five years (or more).
F: The tire lasts six years (or more).
P(F | E)
= P(F ∩ E) / P(E)
= (0.5) / (0.8)
= 5 / 8

Out of 100 tires, 80 will make it 5 years and 50 of those will make it 6 years. That means that 50 out of the 80 that make it 5 years will last another year
0.625 is it.
