(too many NEW UNKNOWNs. gray areas)
DC is just a US territory.
Getting closer to becoming a state. (Which would still function as US CAPITAL)
If DC becomes 51st state. What will its capital city be?
Will White House become capital of USA. (or current complete territory "whole state" )
will whole state be Federal (just 1 County which is federal)Every state needs:Capital city (create/name a city/region within its territory), Local government...

They just need to give the people representation in congress.

Read James Madison Federalist 43.
DC has as much chance of becoming a state as a Post Office in Caldwell Texas or Pocatello Idaho does. It will take a constitutional amendment to make the DIstrict of Columbia a state. That means 2/3 of the states would have to approve it. It was tried and it failed.

I learned this stuff in high school 55 years ago. Where have you been?

Maybe they will close the SLAVE BUILT GOVERNMENT BUILDING THERE, TEAR THEM DOWN and MOVE THE CAPITAL to the center of Kansas so it will be in the center of the states and buy land there and declare it sovern like DC.

Once Puerto Rico is admitted as a state, DC may get it's chance.

This won't happen with the current Senate so they've got plenty of time to think about it. Ideally Congress would just give the residential parts of DC back to Maryland and retain the federal business end of it as the District of Columbia, a non-state. But then that wouldn't grant two more Dems to the Senate as is the only reason they want to do this.

DC will become a state; Washington will be its capital.

that won't happen. DC is not a state

They've been trying for decades, Mitch McConnell will never let it happen, and I wouldn't hold my breath. Just add that to the pig pile of Bills the House has passed and the Senate will kill.
