    What are the two integers?

    x + y = 39

    x - y = -203

    2x = -164

    x = -82

    y = 121

    LET THE NUMBERS BE  X  AND Y

    X+ Y = 39

    X- Y = -203

    JUST ADD THE EQUATIONS

    2X = -174

    X = - 87

    SUBSTITUTE  VALUE IN ANY EQUATION

    -174 +Y = 39

    Y= 213

    ANSWER X= -174   ,  Y = 213

    Without variables, we can find

    the big number=[39+(-203)]/2=-82.

    the smaller number=[39-(-203)]/2=121.

    The sum of 2 integers is 39

    x + y = 39

    and their difference is -203

    x - y = -203

    solve using substitution method

    x - (39-x) = -203

    x = -82

    Z2=39-Z1

    Z1-Z2=-203

    Z1-39+Z1=-203

    2(Z1)-39=-203

    2(Z1)=-164

    Z1=-82

    Z2=39+82=121

    Thus, -82+121=39

    and, -82-121=-203

    So the answer is:

    -82 and 121

    Let x = integer 1

    Let y = integer 2

    The sum is 39:

    x + y = 39

    The difference is -203:

    x - y = -203

    System of two equations and two unknowns.  Solving with elimination, add the two equations together:

    x + y = 39

    x - y = -203

    ----------------

    2x = -164

    x = -82

    Now we have x, we can solve for y:

    x + y = 39

    -82 + y = 39

    y = 121

    Your numbers are:

    -82 and 121

    The sum of 2 integers is 39

    x + y = 39

    and their difference is -203

    x - y = -203

    Add equations together

    2x = -164

    x = -82

    substitute into x + y = 39

    y - 82 = 39

    y = 101

    Let the 2 integers be A & B.;

    A + B =    39...(1).;

    A -  B + -203...(2).;

    [(1)-(2)]---> 2B = 242, ie., B = 121. Then (1)---> A = 39 - 121 = -(121-39) = - 82.

    Let the integers by 'm' & 'n'

    Hence

    m + n = 39

    m - n = -203

    Add

    2m = -164

    m = -82

    Henc

    -82 + n = 39

    n = 39 + 82

    n = 121
