If I simply replace my current DL-not a renewal a replacement-so expiration date would not change-will it automatically become a Real ID?

Only if you provide the documentation required. Otherwise, it will be a standard DL without the star.

If you are asking about a driver's license with the star so you can travel, and in the US, then yes.  You will have to provide documentation, answer some questions, and pay the fee.

You still have to qualify, but this is the process.

What's unreal about it now?  If it is not real now, a replacement won't make it real.

No.  You have to show them some additional documents; it's not automatic.

Not in Florida. You have to provide all of the required documentation in order to get a Real ID

You didn't apply for the real ID.
