# What is "G" when it comes to fighter jets?

What does "he's done 30 Gs" mean in fighter planes?

G Means gravity which is about 21 pounds per sq inch at sea level.. each G is another 21 pounds per sq inch at 30... your like mashed potatoes on your insides...  IF you weight 100 pounds at 30 g you would be about 3,000 pounds...

Pulling Gs means pulling gravity.

It means there is now a corpse flying the plane, at 30Gs his/her organs are now mush.

It’s because the first time you go in a jet and experience the acceleration you say “gee, that was fast”!

"g" refers to an acceleration equal to the of Gravity.

Pulling "2 g" means that an aircraft is turning very tightly, subjecting the pilot of an acceleration that make him or her feel twice as heavy as their regular weight.

People usually faint at 6 g, and it takes special suit and training to pull through 9 g.

No fighter aircraft is designed to sustain acceleration above 9 g anyway; what would be the point if the pilot is incapacitated?

To go beyond 9 g would call for remotely piloted drones.

x force of gravity.  Nobody does 30 G's.

It means 'gravitational force equivalent' - and usually refers to acceleration. 1g is 9.8m/s2, or the same as the gravity you experience on Earth. 0g is weightlessness.

A typical person can withstand 5gs and remain conscious - some more extreme roller coasters may have gs this high. However the higher the gs the worse the effect - 16 gs for a minute will probably kill you. 30 gs on the whole body even for a few seconds may be fatal. However someone in a car crash may experience hundreds of gs, but only very very briefly.

What pilots say when they eject.

Gravity. And 30 G's would probably tear your organs out.
