How does one become an audiobook narrator or do voiceover work?

    I'm starting to think you're obsessing over this without absorbing the answers people have already given you. You seem to be assuming you can do audio narration without having done any. Make a demo before you ask another question, reading a book in the public domain aloud for an hour without errors.

    I did a small amount of voiceover work decades ago. I got the work because I knew someone connected to the person making the on-air ads, and he heard me talking and liked my voice. If I'd wanted to do this for a living, I'd have to move to where national ad campaigns are recorded, LA or NYC, for starters. Most voiceover work is done by working actors making a little money on the side.
