How dangerous is a burned out CFL light bulb that fell to the floor and broke?
you can actually die from a broken cfl bulb is crazy as it may sound. it releases some chemical in the air. but, just put a fan or open a window wait 15 to 20 minutes and you should be ok to clean up the broken bulb mess afterwards.

More about the broken glass. Clean up well as it went a far distance when it shattered. So no naked feet for quite awhile.

When you clen it up just don't stir it up with something like a broom. put the big pieces in trash. then get some wet paper towels an whip up the dust an toss.

Use a damp cloth to wipe it up and throw it all away. That gets the mercury out of the way. Don't vacuum it as that will just put some of it into the air for you to inhale.

put on gloves and vac it up

If you stepped on it barefoot it could definitely cut you so be very careful.

Not very. There's a tiny but of mercury in the ballast. The reason you're supposed to recycle them is because of the cummulative effect in a landfill. Just wrap it up in newpaper and put in the trash and think no more of it. Nobody is 100% perfect.
