How to remove glued carpet?

I just moved into a new apartment and the person living there before glued her carpet to the floor. Not sure what she used exactly, if its tape for carpets, glue or what but it is very hard to take off, i just tried goo gone and scraping it off with a scraper with plastic blades but so far it doesn’t seem to remove much so im hoping someone might have a idea on how to remove this without making too much damage to the floor.

What makes you think the previous tenant did it?

I would expect it was done to the order of the property owner or manager.

Unless you have been authorized to remove it or have it removed,

you had better leave it alone.

And if you ARE allowed to take it out,

you are going to need to hire a professional  to do it.

Acetone aka fingernail polish remover cuts glue. Paint stores used to sell Acetone in quantity at a reasonable price and Hospitals have and use it.

Call the landlord if you are renting.
