    One analogy in the real world could be a staircase. It starts at some height and then goes up by a constant amount for each step.

    Another analogy might be the amount you pay for a handyperson. You usually pay a fixed amount for them to come out. Then you pay a fixed hourly fee beyond that.

    So let's say you start by paying $80 for the first hour and then $50 extra for each additional hour. The arithmetic sequence of amounts would be 80, 130, 180, 230, etc.
