A rat chewed through a cable to my new car...a $1300 repair...what are my options?

A squirrel or a rat chewed through  a cable on Subaru Outback and its a pricy fix..Subaru said not our problem...but isnt it.  How could a rodent even get to the wire..the car was sitting outside...can i not have it outside...Also could our apartments be liable in an way?  im just looking for options

Contact your insurance company, they may cover some of the repair, depending on your coverage. Otherwise, you pay for the repair. Shop around, often an independent repair shop will be less expensive than the dealer.

It certainly isn't Subaru's problem that a rat chewed wiring in your car. Cars are not sealed systems.

A rat can squeeze through an incredibly small hole, getting into a vehicle engine compartment is no problem for them at all

if you have comprehensive insurance, that would be covered. if not, you can always try to tape it together
