Canada has a population of 37,971,020. U.K. has 67,886,084. Is Canada’s relatively small population why our Queen still reigns over Canada?

Nothing to do with the size of the population. New Zealand and Australia

Have a lot less people than Canada. They still have the Queen as Head of

    State.

    No, that isn't why.

The Queen still reigns over the USA. You just don’t realize it.

The choice to retain a Monarch was decided by Canada when we were given full independence with the Statute of Westminster along with basically all modern (at the time) countries in the British Empire.  As such the current Queen of Canada is the same individual who is also the Queen of the UK and she is a Canadian Citizen.  As a side note if, for some reason, another family were to rule the UK they would not become the Queen, or King, of Canada without government approval but the title would pass to the heir in the current Royal Family.  Population has nothing to do with it and only an idiot would want the current form of government to change.  Our current form is significantly more stable and more cost effective than other forms of Democratic governments that currently exist.

As for costs, the cost to Canada of having the Queen as Head of State is significantly less expensive than having our own.  In addition, for those that talk about the cost to the UK (to use a consistent term), studies have found that the Royal Family brings in more revenue to the country than it costs to keep them meaning that if they were no longer there the country would experience a net loss of income.

The Queen is the Head of the Commonwealth, an association of countries with previous connections to Great Britain.

No.  It is to make it clear to the Yanks that its different North of the border.

  • There's a head of state in Canada, the governor general take orders from the Queen if she gives them. Canada is part of the common wealth countries, but she doesn't 'rule' over Canada in the way you think she does.

That's how our Queen rolls.  Only British India and Nigeria were significantly bigger than Canada and UK as far as colonies the Monarchy Ruled over.

No. You can see the havoc which an executive president gone really bad has wrought next door. Canada is wise to keep a ceremonial and apolitical monarch as head of state.
