Why people overrated over coronavirus when there have been worst pandemics within a life time ago?

Hong Kong flu 1968 claimed the lives of around 1,000,000-2,000,000 People.

Asian Flu 1957 claimed the lives of around 1,000,000-4,000,000 people.

Update:

So far covid19 has claimed over 500,000 people worldwide

They got vaccinated so they never got the flu. Unfortunately, if people never get the flu their immune systems will be weak. Now there is a real virus coming for them and neither their vaccines nor their immune systems can save them; this is why they want us to wear masks. Too bad for them, but they should have thought about that before they got vaccinated. Those who die from covid have nobody to blame but themselves. I will not wear a mask just because they are unwilling to pay for their mistakes.

This pandemic isn't over and there's no end in sight while trump mishandles it (most of the EU and Asia have it contained now). It would be worse if not for the mitigation by responsible people. We're only strong as the weak links. We need a comprehensive federal policy that unites us.

Because there were eventually vaccines for those.  This one is a long way from being done, it's already past halfway to a million deaths and cases around the world per day are double what they were at the end of May - 100,000 a day then, 200,000 a day now. And there is no vaccine on the horizon. Might be a year before there is one AND it can be distributed to the whole world.

A also do not believe the death numbers from China, Russia, Brazil, Ecuador, India and other countries are anywhere near the actual numbers, and of course, North Korea doesn't tell the truth about anything. Not one death?

There could already be well over a million dead.
