Suckering indeterminate tomatoes makes tomatoes faster and you don't end up with a lot of little green ones at the end of the season. Youtube videos on it

Different varieties grow at different times. It also could be related to soil, sun, or water.

,You need to grow them for your climate , pinch out side shoots and let 4 or 5 trusses form then pinch the top off so it produces just that crop, they will just keep shooting and making flowers if you leave them and you end up with loads of little green tomatoes at the end of season , watering and feeding problems are different and cause diseases like black spot and leaves turning yellow curling up etc the side shoot is between the leaf and stem but small toms varieties the cherry ones you can let run riot

Could be too much nitrogen. Happens when too much organic compost is in the mix.
