When you cut yourself, why does it hurt so much but at the same time feel good?

I do not know the clinical name of the chemical in the brain that can make you feel good. It may be the chemical that comes alive if you are running a great distance and about to peter out, but suddenly you get a second wind,  so-to-speak. I suspect beta-endorphins are playing a role in release from the brain. Sorry.

Pain and pleasure receptors are at the same location in the brain.  That's why some people enjoy pain and sex together.
