The three conductors of 3-phase overhead line are arranged in a horizontal plane with a spacing of 4 m

between adjacent conductors. The diameter of each conductor is 2 cm. Determine the inductance per

km per phase of the line assuming that the lines are transposed .

    equivalent spacing

    D = ³√(4*4*8) m = 5.04 m

    wire radius r = 1 cm = 0.01 m

    L = 2e-7H/m * ln(D/r) = 2e-7H/m * ln(5.04/0.01)

    L = 1.24e-6 H/m

    and so per kilometer, that's 1.24e-3 H
