What is this growth growing on my squash plant and on the dirt around it?

This is what it looks like: https://imgur.com/a/XVnjmac

It is kind of chalky and crumbles like dirt. It has a round blob like form. This outside is white and the inside is brown with yellow areas.

It's a fungus of some sort, possibly some sort of puffball.

I doubt it's growing on the squash itself, though. Those sorts of fungi don't grow on annual plants, plus the squash looks perfectly healthy. I expect it's growing on something in the soil and the fruiting body just happened to grow up around the squash stem.

    Most likely fungus.
