Keep in mind they are prey animals and afraid of any animals larger.
Never chase or grab them with hands, work more on getting them to come to you.
After the settling into a new home, getting used to your presence, smells, and sounds, you can try interacting.
Bathtubs work for that well, sit in the tub with your hamster and just let it do its own thing its way. It has to learn you mean no harm and develop a trust in you.
Til then, it may avoid you, just let it. knowing it has that freedom builds trust, it will come around in time so have patience.
A cool video for you, there are a lot more:

In the beginning, your hamster won't know you from anyone else. Hamsters bond with one to two people, which means that your hamster may tolerate guests and other family members, but he'll only bond and recognize you and possibly one other person. So now you know... "only youuuu" 😉 🐹
