Remember your order of operations! You'd first do what's inside the parentheses, which would 3 divided by 5. As a decimal, that would give you 0.6.
The next part is a bit confusing because the way you have it written, it looks as though you're multiplying by 2. Maybe that really is the case. And if so, then 0.6 times 2 = _______.
Another way you could have done this is to take 3/5 x 2. The whole number 2 as a fraction would be 2/1. So you'd multiply the two numerators and divide that by the multiplication of the two denominators. That would mean 3x2 = 6 and 5x1 = 5. So if you divided 6 by 5, you'd get ______. If you do your math correctly, both ways will give you the same answer!
However, if you are raising to the second power, meaning the 2 is an exponent, then you'd multiply 0.6 by itself. So 0.6 x 0.6 = _______.
So you'll get two very different answer depending whether you are multiplying that three-fifths by 2 or raising it to the power of 2.Source(s): I've taught math and many other subjects. And have helped out lots of students with their questions.

It's not clear what the 2 is doing there.
Is it multiplication? (3/5)*2
Or is the 2 an exponent? (3/5)^2
either way, since you want a decimal, first convert 3/5 by dividing 3÷5 = 0.6
if it is multiplication:
(0.6)*(2) = 1.2
if the 2 is an exponent:
(0.6)^2 = (0.6)*(0.6) = 0.36
hope this helps!
