why is Earth slowly moving away from the Sun, not twoards it?

due to nuclear fusion and giving away its energy, the sun is lossing mass..
Using Newtons law of gravitation, if we held the mass of earth constant and also the gravitational constant, as the mass of the sun is getting lower, the Force is getting weaker,..
if we assume that the earth's kinetic energy is constant, it will get further away if the attractive force from the sun is getting weaker..

The sun is very slowly losing mass (from the fusion of hydrogen to helium) and therefore the gravity holding all the planets (and asteroids and comets) is slowly decreasing.

As the Sun burns it effectively consumes itself. Therefore, there is constantly less Sun. As a result the Sun's mass is decreasing. This means its gravitational pull is less. Everything in our solar system is, therefore, moving away from the Sun.

The Sun is losing mass is why. All of th planets are very slowly getting farther from the Sun.

The sun is always consuming itself, burning its own fuel and shedding mass in the form of solar wind. Less mass = less gravity (gravitational pull on the Earth).
