Do Drill Sergeants look through your phone at U.S. Army basic training or AIT since they typically restrict photography and social media?

You do not have a Drill Sergeant at AIT, you will have instructors. During BCT you will not have your phone. You give it up when you arrive and you may be allowed access to it on Sundays to make phone calls. But time is limited on how long you have them. Otherwise they will be locked away.
