The system acceleration is
a = F / M = 14N / 6kg = 2.33 m/s²
For box 1 to accelerate at that rate, the friction force motivating it must be
f = 3.5kg * 2.33m/s² = 8.2 N ◄
As a check, consider again box 2. The net force on it would be
Fnet = (14 - 8.2)N = 5.8 N
and so its acceleration is
a = 5.8N / 2.5kg = 2.33 m/s² √√√
